How to Reset Your Password on the Merchant Access Portal (MAP)

If you’ve forgotten your password, don’t worry , recovering access to your MAP account is quick and secure. As part of our ongoing security upgrades, resetting your password now includes our updated password strength policy to ensure your account is PCI DSS compliant.

Steps to Reset Your Password

Step 1: Select "Forgot your password?"

On the MAP login screen, click the "Forgot your password?" link below the login fields.


Step 2: Enter Account Details

You’ll be prompted to enter your:

  • Username

  • Company Name

Step 3: Check Your Email for a Temporary Password

You will receive a temporary password via your registered email address. If you are not able to locate the email, check your spam. 


Step 4: Log in Using the Temporary Password

Return to the login screen and:

  • Enter your Username, Company Name, and the temporary password



  • You will be prompted immediately to update your password

As part of our PCI DSS compliance updates, your new password must meet the following criteria:
  • ✅ Be 12–20 characters in length

  • ✅ Include uppercase and lowercase letters

  • ✅ Include at least one number

  • ✅ Include at least one special character

  • ❌ Avoid personal information (e.g., your name, birthday, etc.)

  • ❌ Do not use common or easily guessed words (e.g., "password123")

Follow the on-screen prompts — the system will let you know if your password meets the requirements

Security Tips
  1. Your password is confidential, never share it with anyone.
  2. Payfast will never ask you for your Merchant Access Portal password.
  3. If you receive suspicious communication asking for credentials, treat it as a potential phishing attempt.
  4. For better protection, consider changing your password every 90 days.
