How to Change Your Password in the Merchant Access Portal (MAP)

Maintaining a strong, secure password is critical to protecting your account and customer data. This guide walks you through the steps to update your password within the Paygate Merchant Access Portal (MAP), along with important security reminders.

Step-by-Step: Changing Your Password

Step 1: Log in to MAP: Use your username, strengthened password, and company name to access MAP.

Step 2: Access the Change Password Option

Once successfully logged in, navigate to the top of the screen, click on your username (top right corner) to open a dropdown menu.
Select “Change Password” from the dropdown.

Step 3: Update Your Password

On the Change Password screen:

  • Enter your current password

  • Enter your new password

  • Confirm your new password

Password Guidelines:
For better security, your new password should:

  • Be a minimum of 12 characters long

  • Include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Include at least one number

  • Include at least 1 special character

  • Avoid personal info or common words (e.g., "password", your name, etc.



Step 4: Save and Confirm

Click the “Change Password” button. A confirmation message will appear letting you know your password has been successfully changed.
You will be automatically logged out, this is a security measure to ensure your account is updated.




Step 5: Log Back In

Return to the login screen and sign in using your new password.

Security Tips

  • Your password is confidential, never share it with anyone.

  • Payfast will never ask you for your Merchant Access Portal password.
    If you receive suspicious communication asking for credentials, treat it as a potential phishing attempt.

  • For better protection, consider changing your password every 90 days.
