Why Your PayJustNow Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) Tile Shows “Not Available”

If you log in to your Payfast Merchant Dashboard and see the PayJustNow Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) tile marked as “Not Available”, it means your store is currently not eligible for PayJustNow BNPL.

On your merchant portal, under payment methods, you’ll see this message:

This article explains why your store may not be eligible, what you can do to change that, and when eligibility is fully determined by Payflex.

1. Why You Might Not Be Eligible

There are two main categories of reasons:

A. PayJustNow Eligibility Rules (Non-Changeable)
In some cases, eligibility depends on PayJustNow internal risk policies and the industries they support.
If any of the following apply, PayJustNow BNPL cannot be enabled for your store:

  1. ❌ Your store operates in a restricted industry that PayJustNow does not support (e.g., gambling, lotteries, credit services, collection agencies, or adult digital content).
  2. ❌ Your store is a Non-profit organisation (Cause) account (PayJustNow BNPL is not available to cause-based merchants).
  3. ❌ Your store was assessed by PayJustNow risk process and not approved due to internal risk criteria.
  4. ❌ Your Merchant Category Code (MCC) is outside of PayJustNow approved list.

If your store falls under any of these categories, unfortunately, PayJustNow BNPL cannot be enabled at this time.

B. Missing or Incomplete Information (Fixable Issues)

In some cases, you may not yet be eligible because we don’t have enough information to submit your profile to PayJustNow for review.
If any of the following apply, you can fix them to help us reassess your eligibility:

Issue

Action Required

Account not verified

Go to your Merchant Dashboard and upload the required verification documents (e.g., proof of business, ID). Once verified, your account can be submitted to PayJustNow

No recent trading activity

If you haven’t processed transactions in over a year, start trading again and then contact our Merchant Support team to be reassessed for eligibility.

Missing or inactive website URL

Ensure your website link is active and live.

Missing trading name or contact details

Update your business name, contact information, and URL in your Merchant Dashboard under “Display Settings.”then contact our Merchant Support team to be reassessed for eligibility.

Account temporarily disabled

If your Payfast account is disabled, contact our Merchant Support team to help you reactivate it.

Once all the required details are in place, contact our Merchant Support team to be reassessed for eligibility.

2. PayJustNow’s Final Decision

Even if you meet all PayJustNow's submission requirements, PayJustNow has the final say on whether your store is approved or not.
Their decision is based on their risk assessment process, industry criteria, and merchant performance history.

If PayJustNow rejects your application, your tile will remain in the “Not Available” state. Unfortunately, Payfast cannot override PayJustNow’s decision.

3. What You Can Do Next

·      Check your merchant details: Ensure all business and website information is complete and accurate.

·      Review your verification status: Unverified merchants cannot be submitted for PayJustNow BNPL assessment.

·      Contact Merchant Support: If you’re unsure why your tile says, “Not Available,” contact our Support Team. They can confirm your eligibility status and advise if there’s anything you can do to change it.
