Why has the branding on the Merchant Access Portal (MAP) changed?

In the coming weeks, the branding on MAP will be updated to align closer with Payfast by Network. This forms part of the broader integration into our parent company, Network International, which initiated in 2021.

Payfast by Network is an ecommerce solution of Network, which includes an Aggregation solution (previously referred to as Payfast) and Gateway solution (previously referred to as Paygate). South African businesses can use both solutions to accept a variety of payment methods online.

As Network, our collective vision is to strengthen our local offering by providing access to global expertise, resources and capabilities – ushering in a new era of unified payments innovation in South Africa. Find out more about the rebrand in our blog here or press release here.

Why is the logo changing on the payment page?

The logo change forms part of the integration of Payfast and Paygate, and the bigger consolidation into Network International as mentioned above.

Who is Network International?

Network International, which acquired Payfast in 2021, is the leading enabler of digital commerce in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. With over 30 years of experience in delivering innovative solutions that drive revenue and profitability for their customers, Network has grown from strength to strength to become the largest acquirer in the UAE.

You can find out more about Network International’s acquisition of Payfast here, and our coming together with Paygate and SiD here. More information about Network International can be found on the website here: https://www.network.ae/en

Does Paygate still exist?

While Paygate the company has integrated into Payfast and rebranded to Network International, the name Paygate still remains as an ecommerce gateway solution at Network, catering specifically to the South African market. The Paygate website was integrated into Payfast’s website, payfast.io, in January 2024. New Paygate merchants can now sign up from https://payfast.io/solutions/gateway/
