Understanding the "Manage Settlement" Section
The Manage Settlement section allows you to manage how Payfast by Network processes settlement batches for your transactions. Payfast automatically combines all successful authorization transactions at the end of each day into a settlement batch. This batch instructs your bank to withdraw funds from your client’s credit card and transfer them into your account. The settlement process ensures that funds are transferred from the client's card accounts to your merchant account.
Settlement batches for a 24-hour period are sent to the bank during our settlement run at 18:15 each evening. If necessary, you can stop or initiate a settlement before it has been processed, as long as you do so before 18:15 on the same day. Typically, your account is set up to automatically settle successful authorizations, so no further action is required on your part.
To access the Manage Settlement section:
- Log in to MAP.
- Click on Transactions in the side menu.
- Under Transactions, select Manage Settlement.
This will take you to the Settlement Search page, where you can use the search function to find transactions by selecting a start date and end date. Click the Search button to proceed to the Settlement Select page, which includes a legend explaining the different settlement statuses for each transaction:
- Empty tick box with a blue outline: The transaction has been authorized but not yet settled.
- Checked tick box with a blue fill: The transaction has been authorized but is flagged for settlement and will be settled around 18:30.
- Green tick: The transaction has been successfully settled.
