Payfast works with the 3rd party WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin to allow you to receive recurring payments. Please note that WooCommerce charges $199 annually for their Subscriptions plugin.

Using this setup, your customer enters their card details at checkout to agree to be charged on a recurring basis. Following this, a secure token for that card is created. The WooCommerce plugin works by automatically charging the customer’s card using this token according to how you have set up the subscription terms on WooCommerce. You can learn more about tokenization as a recurring payment feature.

You can view your active customer token agreements by checking the Customer Saved Cards under Reports on your PayFast dashboard.

To link Payfast with your WooCommerce Subscriptions:

Step 1: Enable recurring payments on your Payfast account

1. Login to your Payfast account.
2. Navigate to Settings > Recurring Billing.
3. Simply toggle ‘Enable Tokenization’ so that it is enabled, and click Save.
   

Step 2: Set up subscriptions on your WooCommerce store

1. Ensure you have installed the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin.
2. Install and set up the Payfast Payment Gateway plugin on your store. You can view instructions on how to integrate the plugin with your Payfast account.
