How can I avoid inactivity fees?

As we grow our services and customer base, we have introduced an inactivity fee to maintain accounts that are inactive. PayFast accounts that are considered inactive, i.e haven't been active within the past 12 months, will be charged an inactivity fee of R115 (inc. VAT) at the end of every month.

Accounts with a zero balance of 0 (zero) won’t be impacted, and this fee won’t result in any negative balances.

The inactivity fee comes into effect in January 2021, and all accounts will be notified via email and/or sms using the contact information we have on file.

If your account is one of those affected, you can avoid the inactivity fee in a number of ways:

Buyer account

If you have a buyer account with money in your PayFast wallet, you can withdraw it to your bank account, spend it at any PayFast seller online using the InstantEFT payment method, or donate it to a worthy cause.

Upgraded or Seller account

If you have an upgraded or seller account, which means you've used PayFast to receive payments, you can simply request a payout, or use PayFast to receive a payment into your account from a customer through one of many options.
